Vacancy Notice - Maintenance Assistant

VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT – Maintenance Assistant
 
Contract:  8 Hours per day
 
Salary:  Salary and benefits per negotiated agreement.
                                                                                                                           
Hours:   full-time, 12-month employee.         
 
Qualifications:       Proven experience as a handyman.  Experience with hardware tools and electrical equipment. Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, carpentry and HVAC systems required.  Good communication skills. Well-organized and apt in problem-solving.  Attention to detail.  High School diploma or equivalent.
 
Broad Function:     The maintenance assistant manages his/her position in such a way that his/her goals and objectives support and amplify the goals of the school district. The job goal is to assist the maintenance supervisor and district custodial staff in performing repairs and related maintenance to the district buildings and grounds. 
 
Responsibilities:  Within the approved limits of Board policy as delineated by the superintendent and in cooperation with the maintenance supervisor the main­tenance helper is responsible for the following:
  1. Performs all maintenance/custodial tasks as assigned by the maintenance supervisor;
  2. Assists with the preventive maintenance in the school system;
  3. Assists the maintenance assistant and/or the custodial staff with major projects and/or breakdowns as assigned by the maintenance supervisor;
  4. Assists with repairs within his/her capabilities as assigned by the maintenance supervisor;
  5. Assists with snow removal and lawn care programs;
  6. Assists with setting up for and cleaning up after special events, meetings, etc.;
  7. Assists with deliveries made to the school district and assists with errands for the school district;
  8. Maintains standards for safety, health, and comfort;
  9. Keeps such records as are required by the job or the maintenance supervisor;
  10. Works to ensure economical usage of fuel, water, electricity, supplies, etc.;
  11. Communicates and maintains favorable relations with parents, public, colleagues, and students;
  12. Takes responsibilities for job-related personal growth.
  13. Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.

CONTRACT DATE:  Estimate of mid-November, 2024 through February, 2025. 
 
SALARY: $140.00 per day
 
BROAD FUNCTION:  The Teacher manages his/her team in such a way that his/her goals and objectives support and amplify goals of the school district.   The Teacher assists in the functions of (1) planning and developing, (2) implementing, and (3) evaluating and revising the educational program.  In addition, the teacher (4) is actively involved in parent, colleague, and student relations and (5) participates in personal development activities.
